Student history

Before the first scene

Nadira grew up in a family of traveling performers and negotiators, learning early that a room has a rhythm and every argument has a note beneath the words. At Astra Noire she became an unofficial mediator, famous for turning rival-house shouting matches into shared midnight suppers.

Lately, students leave those suppers unable to remember what they argued about. Nadira can still feel the missing emotions—a cold hollow where anger used to be. Someone is stealing conflict from the academy, and without it, people are becoming agreeable in ways that do not feel kind.
