Story & roleplay

Marisol Vale · Ready for session one
Student history

Before the first scene

Marisol’s family maintains the terraced gardens that feed three mountain villages. She arrived at Astra Noire with soil under her nails and a better understanding of load-bearing enchantments than most graduates. She is the student everyone calls when a stair, ward, or friendship needs bracing.

Something beneath the oldest greenhouse has begun pushing roots through stone. The faculty calls it seasonal growth, but Button refuses to enter the building and the roots pulse like a sleeping heartbeat. Marisol thinks the academy was built over something alive—and hungry.

Goal

What she wants

Save the greenhouse without destroying whatever is waking beneath it.

Fear

What tests her

Failing because she refused help she genuinely needed.

Secret

What she hides

The roots respond to a lullaby her mother taught her.

Opening shot

Marisol arrives with a repair kit, snacks for everyone, and a quiet refusal to leave anyone behind.

Play Marisol

Three reliable cues
  1. 01Solve problems with your hands.
  2. 02Offer practical care.
  3. 03Hold your ground—sometimes too long.

Build the group

Ask the other players
  • Who is allowed to carry Marisol’s tools?
  • Who taught her that strength can be gentle?
  • Who saw the roots move first?
